Private William Westerfield & Corporal George F Mayer graduated together at CUNY College of the City of New York in 1864 & joined the 39th New Jersey Infantry, taking part in the assault & capture of Fort Mahone, Petersburg, Virginia, April 2, 1865. An original pair of CDV class graduation photos of Westerfield & Mayer both ink idd, reverse with Charles K Bill Photographer backmarks.
